The electricity sector

We are the industry leader in transport within the electricity sector in Sweden. Here we have transported over 500 transformers.

Transformer transport

Kraftdragarna has transported transformers since before the company was founded in 1995. At that time we transported for our previous owner Vattenfall. Since then,Kraftdragrna have developed and so have our techniques.

We primarily transport transformers in three ways:

1. Girder Bridge - The safest way to transport a transformer by road. The goods can be lowered to just before the ground, which gives the crew the lowest possible center of gravity. It is almost impossible for it to tip over.

2. Trailer - Is not particularly adapted to transport a transformer but is a very good solution if the transformer has to make its way through tighter turns.

3. Rail - Transports a transformer on a Girder Bride railcar. The rail solution is used if possible as it is a safe and environmentally conscious alternative.

Most generator transports are more or less the same. The generators are usually in a box and are transported as regular cargo.

What makes them unique and puts the transport in our hands is their weight. The transport weight is relatively small compared to what we can transport. Therefore, it’s a routine transport for us that never fails.

Stator transport

Stator transport is similar to generator transport. The difference is that stators are usually replaced at nuclear power plants.

In this case, it’s not the transport that is challenging, but the lifts. Within facilities, heavy goods cannot be lifted with mobile cranes. Instead, there are either lifting systems at the facility or our own. Regardless, Kraftdragarna can handle it because we have our own lifting system that can be used in situations such as low ceiling heights.
